Edible banana in Kansas?

Is it possible that there is an edible banana now that we can grow in Kansas? Might be to good to be true.

I cross referenced the variety at another site and think with protection it might survive zone 5b.

no, you aren't that lucky, though can be used for ornamental purposes.

musa bajoo bananas have been around a long time and are zone 5 hardy but the fruit is not edible. I was hoping this new variety was the banana I've been waiting for.

when i had my basjoo, never tested out the winter, but I don't think it is zone 5 hardy, maybe in the right hot microclimate and with protection, probably so then. too much work to get a banana to produce in northern zones, guess maybe someone who used greenhouse and light system could achieve that. Anyways if burgess says something is edible, doesn't make it so, even if they sell an apple tree, won't have edible fruit, because just a dead stick lol
