I'm running out of space. I need to grow most of my fruit in pots. I'm trying to find more space for blackberries in pots. My current approach: I'm considering fruitnut's approach: Questions regarding pot size: Thanks.

Isoh: I do think some of the roots would extend into the soil and lengthen your watering interval later in the season. But a smaller pot would probably still reduce yield and require more watering, at least in early summer. I'm getting another Black Diamond. I think I'll try both potted and in ground in the greenhouse. The plants are pretty easy to propagate so I'm not concerned about that aspect. It would also be pretty easy to repot after a few years. Good luck with your berries.

In a buried pot, no significant amount of ground moisture will come into the pot, but the roots will definitely head straight out the holes. It would seem that these roots would need to be pruned off eventually whether or not the pot was buried or out-of-ground.
