I planted AU Cherry last year. No fruit yet. I believe it is at least partially self fertile, but should cross pollinate with any other Japanese plum. Coldest this year here was -4, and as far as I know it is fine. Disease resistance should be excellent, taste is still TBD.

Those were put out by Auburn University ( hence the "AU" in the name), andt hey are very disease resistant, prolific, and long-lived. They will pollinate all other plums blooming at the same time. AU Roadside, and Rubrum are two others they offer--ALL are really great plums, with good flavor and production histories.

I planted 2 Au Cherry Plum trees. Be aware!! Japanese Beetles LOVE the leaves. I had to put Seven on them every 5 days for 3 months. The leaves were practically laced. However, they produce luscious, sweet, beautiful deep red plums. Also, they are self-pollinating. You do NOT need another species of plum tree to pollinate an Au Cherry Plum tree.
