Girdled Peach trees - what to do?

I have a pair of peach trees that the mulch was apparently too close to, and over the winter the voles ringed two of them (no bark left in about a 1-2" vertical area).

Is there anything I can do to save the two trees? We haven't started to leaf out or bud out at all. What are my chances of cutting a couple branches off and grafting them to another tree. I've heard peaches don't bud well in the spring.

They're a "Diamond Princess" and either a Reliance or RedSkin, I can't remember.

I've got a couple more peach trees (early elberta, belle of georgia, and whichever of RedSkin/Reliance isn't the ringed one, and two plum trees)

I'm very sorry for that frustrating loss, and a loss it is if trees are girdled all the way around. I don't believe there's any hope of bridge grafting peach trees. If there is at least a band of cambium left, a tree can survive.

If you are planting 5 trees you might be better served to plant varieties that bear at 5 different times so you can harvest virtually throughout summer. I don't know what Daimond Princess is but Red Skin and BofG bear at about the same time.

I've never had voles ring peaches here- they usually prefer apples. I did lose a couple of nectarines that way a couple years back and the voles ignored nearby peach trees.
