Worried About My Blackberry Canes

Well, it's been several months from posting here. All due to the long cold winter we are having here in Northeast Oklahoma. Last fall my Blackberry canes... Triple Crown, Apache, Natchez, Ouachita, and Prime Jan all looked very healthy for spring arrival. But, after two months with temps. lower teens and many nights below zero, I'm afraid there may be some lost here. I have mulch and straw of about one foot deep covering the cane base, hoping this will help some. I'll keep a look-out for any damage.

With the insulation, your main danger is voles (mice) girdling the canes. Covered, sub-zero temps should be no problem.
