| Does anyone do this and wait until you know the sex of the papaya tree to cut away the extras? I'm letting 3 grow within inches of each other, trying to ensure I get a female tree from that spot. But it takes a while to learn the gender. Will it inhibit the growth of the trees too much to wait that long? |

| You won't know what the gender is until they flower. Having them in close proximity should be enough, you don't need to have them in the same spot. Plant them a foot apart if you can. |
