Any kind of fruit tree won't be well adapted to low light conditions even as an ornamental. I'd suggest something like a Norfolk pine.

RE: indoor trees?

thanks, but im not much into pines since i have 2 giant ones in backyard. would any tree like a mple work? i have 2 windows but ones facing northish and the other is east, but has a deck over it so not much use.

RE: indoor trees?

Temperate zone trees require a cold dormant season in order to survive. Even species which have been trained as bonsai are kept outside.

You need to visit the Houseplant Forum and ask for some good tropical species.
