Changing a Male Mulberry to Female

clarkinks

Here is Kansas we have lots of wild mulberries and half of those are males. This year I'm doing some grafting tests and attempting to change a male mulberry to a female. Today I grafted kokuso mulberry, wellington mulberry, and illinois everbearing mulberry to the male tree. I will let you know the results. Let me know if you have tried this or have any suggestions. I used both cleft and rind grafts since the scion wood was considerably smaller than the rootstock.
