I built a 6' x 12' chicken coop 3 years ago and lined the floor with a cubic yard of construction sand. There have been 7 chickens pooing in there for three years. I finally shoveled it all out to use around the garden and replaced it with fresh sand. Not knowing the potency of each shovel-full, I was pretty conservative in applying it around each apple tree. Maybe 3 to 4 shovels full per tree. I'm just wondering if any of you have used poultry poo for fruit tree fertilizer and how you gauge potency and/or amounts in application. Would like to hear your experiences.
By the way, this poo replaced my late February annual application of about 2 cups of 10-10-10 around each tree.
