Why on that website are all the comparisons to apple rootstocks? Are they saying you can graft apples to those? Very confusing!!!

Mahaleb is more winter hardy. It may be a better choice for USDA zone 5.

Colt tolerates heavier soil as long as the drainage is good. That is the other factor I would consider when choosing between the two.

yeah ive heard a lot of good things about colt but I was somewhat worried about the cold hardiness (saw -10 somewhere which might be a little iffy) and also I read some conflicting things about yield and precocity being lower on colt
