| I have 2 raspberry patches that have yielded poorly the last 2 years. I suspect I have one or more of the dreaded raspberry viruses and have already bought plants to start a new raspberrry patch in virgin soil away from the existing plantings. Assuming I have a 3rd year of low yields my plan is to burn the plants and plant the existing raspberry beds with something new. So .. what if anything should I do to kill any virus that might remain in the soil after removal of the affected raspberrry plants? |

| I don't think there's much you can do to kill off raspberry virus, except to remove the plants and clean up all the leaves, debris, etc. I don't know how long the virus persists without an active host... you might want to wait a year before replanting unless your new area is well removed from your old infected area. |

| Oldryder, if it is a wilt fungus then verticillium lasts a decade in the soil and affects a large list of common vegetables and plants. Unsure how common virus is vs. verticillium, but you may be able to tell by symptoms. Viruses may not have the same longevity if hosts are completely removed. |
