Cherry Varieties

I'm ready to plant some cherry trees in my side yard. I have room for about 4 I think. The issue is most of the varieties I've seen need full sun. That area of my yard only gets partial sun at best. Can you advise what types I should plant? Looking for sweet cherries for eating fresh. I'm located on the South Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee.

If cherries absolutely won't work or produce much fruit in these conditions, I'm open to other fruit varieties that would thrive in a partial sun or less environment.

You might be better off with blueberries. They can tolerate a fair amount of shade. Cherry trees won't fruit with less than 6 hours of sun. I'm 100% certain about that.

Blueberries do best in full sun, caneberries are a better choice for part sun than blues.

I have cherry trees in 5 hours of sun and still get fruit. Its just that you are on a sliding scale: less sun means less fruit. I would get out and take a good look at the sky to see how much sun you are getting. For cherries I do agree with thomis that less than 6 hours is probably not worth bothering with.
