You might be able to purchase a stick at Maple Valley yet. I love this apple also but sadly I do not grow it in my orchard (...yet!).

They do have a great selection, and I don't mind paying for scions....sometimes even prefer it out of fear of picking up virus...but a 12$ min shipping isn't gonna work for a single variety

If you send me a self addressed envelope I can give you a bit of old strain Winesap. Not especially a scab mag and I've a client that harvests useable fruit with no spray at all.

That would be appreciated harvestman, and it is good news to hear that it has not been especially scab prone for you...everything I could find listed it as highly susceptible....like macs...my mcintosh is the only tree I have had consistent problems with, but the last few springs have been awfully wet and I am only working with sulfur.

I had thought to keep all the "problems" together should I give up on them, but with that info I might place it on another more vigorous tree.
