blueberries and bradford pear wood chips

Can I plant my 2 and 6 year old potted blueberry bushes in the ground, panting them totally in 2 month old bradford pear wood chips. If I must dig into the 20" deep chips and add soil, is it okay to mulch the plants then with 8" or so of these fresh pear chips? Thanks

Can you? Sure Should you? no:) As a mulch they would be great. I mulch mine with 12" of wood chips a year.

2 months old is still pretty fresh for fresh ground wood chips....
If you want to plant them into wood chips - best to let them rot down / compost for a season and then plant...

As an aside - blueberries do REALLY well in our native soil....
