When to move a young pomegranate

Posted by brownmola (My Page) on

Hello, I planted a 3-4 foot tall bare root pomegranate about 2 months ago. I realize that I'm going to have to move it. It started leafing out about a month ago and it hasn't fully leafed out yet. Can I move it now or should I wait until the winter?

Not sure what zone you are in, but it were me here in socal I would move it now, even knowing we are coming up on summer and it will probably need a little extra care as it gets hot. Only a couple of winter months in the ground, the roots have not grown that much. It will only be a harder job and more traumatizing next winter.

RE: When to move a young pomegranate

I have 4 Vietnam pomegranates that I have moved twice....they take to transplanting quite well. I would move it now.
