Looks like 2 suckers and the original tree died long ago. Does the owner eat/like the peaches on this one?

Neighbors said the trees produced some fruit last season but I didn't ask about that one specifically. I will ask next chance I get.

Suckers can fruit. it just sucks, hence the name sucker. OK, that's not really why they are called suckers. But typically rootstalk fruit is not so good.

On a tree like that I won't cut down either side. Doing so won't make the tree healthier. Just live with that aspect. You could lower the fruiting wood some by making cuts in the top. It's hard to say more than that because I can't see that part well. But whatever you do up top to lower the wood will work if not too extreme.

Well, if they are suckers, and produce bad fruit, you can brush up on your grafting skills, and let them be the root stock for some fabulous tasting varieties. You just need to obtain scion wood from someone close by that is pruning now, and graft them onto the tree!

I agree, that tree is only good for top grafting.

It would be good to ask how the fruit is first. I agree that the trunks look like suckers gone wild, but they may also be 2 peaches planted in one hole. When they start to bloom this year you could get a good idea if they are the same peach or not.

If you do intend to graft to it, it might be a good idea to prune heavily this year to encourage new growth that you can graft to at the end of this summer or next spring, depending on you grafting skill level.
