I like the taste of many cultivars, but none taste like wild berries. I will not eat store bought at all, but none of my plants taste anything like store bought. They don't taste wild either though. I like wild, but also like home grown.
I forage every year myself, so see no need to grow them. Easy enough to forage.

I don't know where to find wild berries anymore, except for the property that I no longer own. Maybe the current owners would let me take a few plants. They grow like weeds there. I haven't seen wild raspberries anywhere else since I was a child, when they grew on every sunny uncultivated patch, even in the middle of a city.

In that case, yes, you should try to grow them. I'm trying to grow some wild raspberries from other parts of the world. Some consider invasive, like wineberry, but also natives like thimbleberry. it doesn't grow in my area, well it does now :) At my cottage wild plants is about all i can get to grow. I don't grow those here in the city.
The domesticated berries though grown yourself are excellent too. I really love the berries I get each year just about over any other fruit except currants. Blackberries are not bad either!

My neighbor hacked out all of the thimbleberry brambles that were just on his side but growing over the chainlink fence between us :(

At least if they are anything like other brambles they should be back with a vengeance if he doesn't keep on top of them.

That's so sad. When I was a kid, we had raspberries, apples, pears, and plums all growing through or over the fence from next door. My mom didn't have to buy fruit all summer and fall!
