Jobes Tree Spikes

I just bought 4 -15 packs of Jobes fertilizer spikes because they were on sale for $1.99 per pack after the mail in rebate. I had the choice between evergreen and Trees and Shrubs. I got the Trees and Shrubs (16-4-4) They did not have the fruit tree spikes on sale. I have a few 1-4 year old apple, peach and cherry trees. Even though not "idea" are the tree spikes worth while?
Thanks
Jason

They seem high in nitrogen, especially for fruit trees... Some people don't even use poultry manure, let alone this stuff.. I wouldn't use it.. I bet many people do, but I wouldn't.. If you do, use it sparingly.. Compost works wonders.

I never use fertilizer spikes. They really don't do the job. And, your spikes are very high in nitrogen, not the best NPK ratio for fruiting trees, except for citrus and avocaos, which are high nitrogen users. I would not use them for your apple, peach or cherry trees.

I think the fruit tree spikes are 10-13-13. I've used them for my mature trees.

:You can use your spikes if you want trees to grow more vigorously. Even on sale they don't save money but there's no reason not to use them. It is better to spread the fertilizer evenly over the ground but the roots will find your spikes and harvest the nitrogen.

I wouldn't give a young tree more than 2-4 ounces actual nitrogen a year.
