If I recall correctly, it was a standard 'Santa Rosa' plum that was pruned to 4' tall per BYOC principles.

He did go on to say that DWN is releasing a new aprium for home gardens in 2016 (if I remember that correctly as well).

Yup...They recently patented a new plum x cherry named "Bella Kat" that has fuzz like an apricot. Its parentage is (plum x cherry)---seed parent--- x Royal lee cherry--pollen parent.

And that's weird, a plum x cherry hybrid with fuzz?

Probably the seed parent got contaminated with either apricot or plumcot pollen after been pollinated with the "royal lee cherry pollen" that's why the plum x cherry hybrid resulted with fuzzy skin. That's my theory.

Many of the older cultivars interest me. As far as the newer ones. I want you guys to try them out first! My place is full for now anyway. Once I move I have to start over, but that is years away.
