No, not insect damage. That's more like drought, heat, root issue, salt, etc.

This a tree that was planted last summer. the rest of the tree looks good just say 10% of the leaves are like this.

I noticed on my older winesap, one leaf is like this.

I hope its not fire blight or a virus from a leafhopper.

I know it is not salt, but it could be dry so I will put the water to it. I have never lost a tree before so I sure hope this is not a loosing battle.

I also vote for environmental. Planted last year doesn't guarantee a vigorous and extensive root system.
