Should my apple trees have had blooms?

Posted by gemstogo none (My Page) on

My 2 apple trees are just beginning to have leaves open and I wondered if I should have seen some blooms prior to this. I know they had lots of apples last year because I was just moving in. Not sure of the kind.

Can anyone help? Thank you

Apples leaf out as they bloom. You should be able to see the swelling or opening fruit buds. If they don't bloom it's likely that they carried too many apples last year. They need to be heavily thinned while the fruit is small in order to bloom the next year.
