Possibly, but not the kind you're expecting.

In the meantime, the rootstock will overgrow your named cultivar which will pine away & die.

So, remove the root sprouts now.

Sorry, what I meant was only the rootstock is sprouting, everything from the graft up is dead. Should I let it go or replace it?

Why not learn how to graft a replacement variety yourself; it's not too hard and you already have a rootsystem going strong.

Rootstock for avocado is seedling avocado. All will produce fruit when they're 12 years or older. but the fruit size & quality is in question -- you won't know until you have it in your hand.

J is correct. Make sure the top portion is dead first. If it is...the "ungrafted" rootstock most likely will be a dud. You never know what you will end up with. Let shoots grow to pencil diameter...then you can graft them with desired scion.
