Hi Dennis: you haven't found the one old fruit book that I have a copy of - The Peach The Kansas Peach, compiled by the Kansas State Horticultural Society, 1899. It has, amongst other things, good descriptions of many varieties and actual grower accounts of how their planted varieties perform in many parts of the state.

At the time of publication, KS was ranked third in the nation in peach production.

The book is of particular interest to me because I live in KS and enjoy history.

Thanks for your effort. Incidentally, NAFEX maintains a library of not so rare books as these but lots 60 to 100 years old. They can be checked out by members and there are 100's of titles. Membership is inexpensive but even at book rates shipping can add up.
