I'm trying to promote beneficial bugs and use pesticides (or hand kill in this case) only on the bad guys by timing of application and choice of pesticide :) I just found a very organized set of lined-up, pinhead-sized, whitish/beige eggs on my All-in-One almond. Does that ring any bells for anyone? The eggs are on the underside of the leaf, and the tree looks really great (just blooms a little early ;) ). I haven't noticed any bad guys on it, but it's in a backyard orchard, so it might not be something that's particularly attracted to almond trees specifically. Thanks for any ideas! I just killed a Swallowtail caterpillar on a parsley plant by not knowing what is what, so I'm trying to learn to ID more things. I have tons of parsley and would have preferred the butterfly!

Please post a picture. It does howeever sound like caterpillar egs. Swallowtails tend to lay their eggs on passiflora species if im not mistaken

Thanks for your input! I'm going to look up pictures of the eggs of the possible butterflies we have here to double-check. But in looking for a picture (my cell phone camera is kaput), I keep running across stink bugs. The eggs on my almond look just like these (better link later, too): http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/veg/bean/southern_green_stink_bug04.jpg We definitely have stink bugs in large numbers. Apparently they found the orchard. I might have to do a separate post, but if anyone is reading this and knows an IPM approach to stink bugs, please give a shout. My go-to insecticide is Spinosad because it preserves the beneficials well, but I don't think it works well on stink bugs. At least I can get the eggs off the trees, though! My trees aren't very big yet :)
Here is a link that might be useful: Like my eggs; these are stink bug eggs
