What is 'winey' flavor in cling peaches?

I am trying to identify an old peach tree that was on the property when we bought it. It has since died. It was an orange peach, cling, and the most notable characteristic was an "earthy" flavor. It sounds weird, but it was delicious! The nearest I have been able to find is Orange Cling/Carolyn G. But the description says it has a "winey" flavor. On the other hand, some wines are described as "earthy."
Do you think that "winey". in this context, could mean "earthy"?
Have you ever run across a cling peach with an earthy flavor?
thanks very much .... judy
