These are not suckers as they are shooting from the middle of the tree and they are not water sprouts as they are growing outwards from the middle and top of the tree..Thanks for the reply.

Yes,they can be topped or thinned(completely removed).Those two ways are a part of normal pruning.
Topping will most likely promote multiple stems at that cut,which is okay.If it grows too much,cut some more. Brady
