I grafted some Ben Davis apples this year and the grafts are doing great! I was wondering if it was a good decision? I have read wonderful things about Ben Davis and terrible things about them tasting like cardboard. What I do know about them is they were one of if not the first commercially available apple because of their keeping ability and their shipping and handling capabilities. I also noticed the bark color when I grafted them reminded me of an Arkansas Black. Hopefully someone has more info on them than what I have been able to dig up because the results are mixed on flavor and their is no info on parentage etc. Any additional information on the apple would be great!
