This spring I grafted several varieties onto my apple tree. All took nicely except the one I wanted the most (fireside) is growing flower buds instead of leaves. The scions that were used had no indication of flower buds but here they are anyway. My question is, should I cut the buds off after they come out a little more but before they flower or because they require more energy they'll heal the scion to the tree quicker? My inclination is to cut them. What does everyone think here?
