no flowers on apple tree this year?

have an apple tree that bore heavily last year even thou I thinned it what I thought was a lot.

this year it looks real healthy but no flowers at all. is this typical?

I'll bet you with all the goofy weather we've had in March and April, the buds formed early and then all froze and died. Plus the fact that you had a large crop last year could negate a crop this year anyways. Sorry to hear.
