I planted some muscadines has spring. This spring, all was going very well....leafing out well and small fruit pods forming. I have two female and one male (self fertile) variety. Well, last week, the leaves on my male started drying up. This weekend, it was toast. Water was not an issue as I water them on a very frequent basis. I don't understand it. The six other grape vines that I have are doing wonderful.
Anyway, is this vine a lost cause or is there a chance that it could put out new buds? I'm in a bind because, I am now left with not male to fertilize my female muscadines.
This is a learning lesson for anyone that plants fruit varieties....if you need cross pollination, plant more than just one pollinator.
