One of my 3 year old Concord vines has develped phomopsis cane on many of its green shoots. Would Captan work for this issue? Also, clusters are starting to flower on this vine. Should I not spray at this point or would it be ok to do so? Finally, should I spray for phomopsis cane every year on all my vines as a preventative measure? Thanks!

I'm not an expert but I do have about 10 vines and most of them get phomopsis cane on the shoots every spring (well, for the first two years I've had the grape vines). I use a Captan 50 wp mix and the fungus clears up after one spray treatment. Next year I'm going to try a dormant spray of lime sulfur to see if that helps prevent the fungus because I'd rather not use the chemicals if possible.

I"m going to try the lime sulfur treatment next year as well. I ended up spraying with Captan this weekend. I"m probably going to prune out all the affected shoots.
