apple tree? baby fruit id?

We moved into a new house a couple months ago. We have a tree in our backyard which from the flowers I was thinking may possibly be an apple tree. Today I noticed it had tiny fruits beginning to grow on it. Is this what baby apples look like? They look weird and feel slightly fuzzy to the touch. Any ideas?

I know nothing about fruit trees lol. It's a single tree and I don't see any other fruit trees in our area, so I was worried if it were an apple or fruit tree of some kind it wouldn't be pollinated, but it appears that it did, because there wouldn't be any fruits if it weren't, right?

Haha! Seriously!

I wish there was a way to know if they're real apples or just crab apples. I guess I just have to cross my fingers! :)

"just" crabapples? Some crabs are excellent eating, and even if you don't care for the fruit you still have a good tree to use as rootstock for a different, or several different, varieties.

But I think it's not a crab, because the fruit are pretty good sized already (compared to what I'm seeing, anyway- we are having a late, cold spring and my apples are slow this year.)

At that size, probably "real" apples.

Thanks! I guess I have a bad impression of crab apples. The only one I've had experience with was inedible and always diseased (though I guess that can happen with any fruit tree).
