I just got a kay gray grape and am wondering where to plant it. I know grapes do better against a south wall, or even better a white wall for reflective light and heat. I also know that kay gray has said to be hardy either to zone 4 or -40F (which to my understanding is more like zone 3). I have never recorded a temp lower then -32C in the yard. I have lots of space for it but most of it is open away from any wall. Just wondering how cold it can take and if I NEED to plant it by a wall.

All I can tell you that it's been grown here,...since I got some canes for rooting.

How long have you had it Konrad? Is it planted outside of the city?

Was more or less wondering if I can get away with planting it in the open. I have more space to plant it there. The walls are starting to fill in.

Sorry, can't tell you where it was grown, don't know the grower,...someone left it for any who wanted some.
