fyi - car gall pics

Michael

Greetings CAR sufferers: If you are wondering what the galls look like at different developmental stages here are some pics.. The galls I've seen range from appx. 1/2" to 1 3/4" in diameter before they sprout the telial horns, the orange things, and sporulate.

Spent gall from last year shown this year.

Sorry I can't find the gall pictures showing them in their overwintering condition. Basically they look like the 2nd picture only in place of the subsequently emerging horns, you'll see a dark spine about 1/16" long. I noticed this year the horns emerging slightly with a 1/4" rain and then stopping. It took about 24 hrs with 2 - 1" rains during that period with temps. between 55 - 70 deg. to get the full blown horns to emerge.

Good Luck,

Michael
