potted plum trouble

Last spring i planted two dwarf plum trees from arbor day foundation in very large pots. They did very well last year and i pruned them back at the end of fall. This spring they produced lovely flowers for me but absolutely no leaves have come in yet. Its been about a month since the flowers began and now they are fading back and yet there is still no green growth at all. I am still new at growing plants and i am way out of my league when it comes to knowing what to do for these guys. Do i need to add more soil or organic matter? Am i watering too much or too little? Have they simply outgrown their pots already? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

A months delay is a lot but it's not likely due to anything you have done or didn't do. So just be patient and the leaves should follow. There could be something wrong like winter injury or overly wet soil. Don't over water. Without leaves the plant isn't using much water.
