Hello,

I have a potted Fall Gold raspberry that I've had for a couple years now. Last year was the first year I was able to leave it outdoors during the summer, and I think that I was not aggressive enough in pruning off the new canes. Right now it has just started pushing out new leaves and looks like this:

As a point of reference, the longest cane on there is probably 3 feet high. My questions:

1. Should I be pruning back some of the smaller canes now? I would assume this would improve the berries I get on the larger ones. I am aware that the bulk of the crop will come from these floricanes, but worry that I left on too many.

2. How many canes would be reasonable to leave growing in a pot like this? I believe it's a 24" pot. It is already pushing out a dozen new canes so I want to nip this in the bud now so to speak.
