I have a couple of nanking cherry trees I planted last fall, and over the winter the voles ate the bark around the whole tree.

The tops of these branches appear dead, but there are buds and leaves forming below the damage. Just wondering if I cut these back will they grow new shoots or stems?

If so how far should one cut back?
