All right! I'm in the same shape, sorting june '13 grafts that didn't emerge from my BET rootstock. I had to sort my grafts and see if the bud tissues are alive, even if the bud died and there's only green left. I've been keeping the suckers from taking much of the energy and then today I saw many more early buds emerging! Out of 60 iffy bud grafts, I had 25 show!

This one is particularly noticeable because it's a red-leafed plum budded to a green-leafed plum.

I need to try this sometime. When do you do your grafts?

Not very sharp, I'm afaid.

But this shows that even someone with no experience and not a clue about grafting can manage it.

Got to take the rest of that branch off now. If it stops raining.

I had the same issue with my bud grafts. The tissue is fine but the bud dead. Seems my earliest ones fared much better then the later ones.

Nice...i've got plums and peaches on the same tree and it really looks cool when they are blooming (white/pink). The purple leaves would add...

These were already on the same tree. I'm just trying to readjust it. The red variety [Hollywood] was being overwhelmed.

Cool pix! I could look at freshly pushing grafts all day. This time of year I spend too much time going around to look at all my new grafts and admire the minor miracle, and not enough time actually doing something useful in my orchard!
