How did your plum trees do as the spring and summer progressed? My husband, Brian, is the developer of Blackice, and would be interested to know how your trees fared.

Just came across this writergirl109. The trees completely died off in my region. The one pulled through for another season but I had to dig it out and replace last year sadly. I also put in another re-plant as a replacement but it too died over the winter season. And what a wonderful treat that fruit is to eat but unfortunately I won't get to grow it here. I had a nice discussion with your husband and reported my scenario, he gave me some pointers but alas our winters are far to cold here in ND.

Yes, I am in Minot North Dakota, about an hour south of the Canadian border.

The patent states it crops regular in USDA 3b. Lots of times the problem is with the nursery propagation on the wrong rootstock.

Another patent violation might appear nursery propagators are violating plant patent hardiness rating about where tests were preformed. For example if zone 3b lydecker (black-ice) if it had been sent out of the area California to tissue culture (mass multiplication), or grown in greenhouses for even one year, then any number of missed steps such as this would no longer make the tree suitable to zone 3b.

I have seen so much of this about buying and bringing things to Alaska, "been there done that" long enough. So let it be known about nurseries it is usually better to seek licenses directly from the developer where ever you can about scions from the original sources then later on to be grafted upon known tree stocks alive and working in favor for "you" the consumer.
