Almost all red raspberries should do great in zone 4b. Your soil pH and soil make-up are great as well.

Just clear a soil row 18" to 24" wide and allow 20" to 24" between plants. Work in a little 10-10-10 before planting.
Be sure to plant the canes at the same depth that they grew out of the soil. Put on a top mulch to stop weeds and evaporation. Water in and you are done.

They are a variety of everbearing. all I have for fertilizer is triple-19. I will work that in a smaller dose.

When you choose the spot keep in mind - they will spread. No) THEY WILL SPREAD!!! (this looks more like their spreading rate)

Also, I am not sure what variety you have. I have about 20 bushes of "Red Fall" - it gives two crops. So from a middle of June to the early October f with about 2 weeks interval between the crops I am getting about half-gallon daily. It is a lot of raspberries) By the way, it makes great wine)

Thanks for the info galinas. I got 'em planted today. I have mostly open field (until my orchard matures it looks open I guess) I have room to mow around them to help keep them in check and I have plenty of room for them to spread, but I have some really dense quack grass here. Thinking I prolly need a border to keep the grass out.

I would love that many raspberries, and I would love to make some wine. I also make a great blackberry brandy. I wonder if raspberries would translate well....
