If trees are in a row get the drip line with built in emitters. They last much better than the kind you plug in where needed. Scattered trees and this suggestion probably won't work.

@fruitnut - thanks for the link, trees are in rows but spacing isn't the same, I have a mix of standards and semidwarfs (bud 118), except for the 25 I put on tall spindle(m26). looks like dripworks has spacing available up to every 36 in.
I am going to keep that in mind for future expansion though. It would be particularly nice for disassembly in the fall.

@Bill- Parts should be here in ten days or so. I have been considering it for a few years and never realized how inexpensive it really was to do. I am a little concerned about the durability of line that costs $44 for 500 ft, it is probably pretty thin walled stuff. Any problems with sun damage or brittleness?

They do have a 1/2" soaker hose. That is what I use on all my fruit trees. It requires a sediment filter. If you bury it, leave the tail exposed, that way you can verify the presence of water.

I've got about 1200 feet of line to run. I did look into the soaker hose, but I think I would be watering a lot of empty space instead of delivering it to the points I want. I live in northeast Wisconsin, I don't think I will take a chance of burying any line. It would really suck to have to dig it up after it freezes and gets damaged.
