It looks like my 3-in-1 cherry tree is probably on its way out. Rather than trying to track down another, I was thinking about trying 3 separate trees in one hole, like Dave Wilson's Back Yard Orchard Culture says will work. But I'm skeptical... Does anyone have personal experience with this? How does pruning compare to trying to prune a multi-grafted tree? It seems like the trees would all be absurdly lopsided. Are there any problems with trees falling over because all their weight is on one side?

Hm, not citrus. But I have planted three different figs in one hole and it worked out great. With a little pruning and some braiding, the new growth accommodated each other just right :)

I never would have thought of braiding them. Now I'll have to try it! Is that part of the "official" method, or did you figure that out yourself?

Christy, The topic was discussed at length a few times in this forum. I gave you a link to one of them here. It's good read.
Here is a link that might be useful: Multiple trees in one hole
