I'm testing this root stock, found some flowers,..what would be the fruit like? Is it self fruitful?

Konrad,

My two self fertile sweet cherry varieties, Vandalay and Black Gold, were grafted on G.5 rootstock. I don't know if the rootstock itself is self-fruitful or not.

This root stock has produced regular size cherries (I compare them to Bing from a supermarket.

My trees grow very well and send out many new shoots every year. I don't let them grow tall. It tolerates New England's wet spring well.

Are you saying you had cherries, [not grafted] from the root stock G5?
Thanks!

Gisela 5 parentage comes from P. cerasus x P. canescens.*

I did a prunus rootstock patent search (patents in class plt/183) and I found six rootstocks that have (P. cerasus x P. canescens) in their parentage---one these could be Gilsela 5.

Cherry rootstock GI 195/1

Cherry rootstock GI 195/2

Cherry rootstock GI 148/9

Cherry rootstock GI 148/2

Cherry rootstock GI 148/1

Cherry rootstock GI 148/8

No, konrad. My cherries are from the grafted varieties. Sorry for the confusion.

Looks like not too much to be expected in a cherry.
