I know people in the deep south don't grow apricots. I am so hardheaded I just had to try. I planted 2 different types. Moorpark and Blenheim last year. They are growing just not vary fast. The Blenheim has a few fruit but still won't grow vary fast. haven't got but about 8" growth this year. On my peaches and plums I get grate growth maybe 36" or more. Should apricots get as much growth as peaches and plums? I had an extremely wet year this year can that be the problem. The trees look ok just not hardly growing. I even thought maybe the fertilizer was leaching out am scared to put too much and burn the trees just don't know.

Yes apricots should grow about as much as those other stonefruits. I'd suspect root stress as the issue with your trees. Apricot are from dry Asian climates and do better out here than in your climate. Unusually wet weather will just make matters worse. At least you've gotten a few fruits. I admire your tenacity. You deserve some great fruit!!

Apricots can take longer to really get growing in the spring. Also, this is not exactly related but the varieties you picked are two of the hardest ones to grow in humid climates. They tend to crack/rot/etc very badly. I would get a Tomcot or other variety. Scott

I have had reasonably good luck with a stark bros Harglow apricot which was planted 7 years ago along with a spring satin pluot, an aprium and starkrimson plum for good cross pollination. Just starting to harvest , but i have had a regular spray regiment, pruning, mulching, net tree or tulle bag some fruit, etc. but it's worth the effort after that first bite! I bag and freeze the extra harvest , and upon thawing a year later the flavor is intensified i guess by the evaporation of water , but what a treat! Keep up the good work and tells about your results in the coming years!
