I bought 1 lonely blackberry plant from a boy at his plant stand next to moms yard sale, was wondering is it alright to plant in a container? At least til next year when I will have a spot to plant it. Thank you, Mary

Mary, I grow many of my brambles in pots in pine bark mulch + peat + perlite + miracle grow. Just use as big a pot as possible. If you have a vining type, it will need a trellis of some sort. Terri

Do you mean transfer from the sale container into another container? If you will be planting it out in the ground next year, a 2- or 3-gallon pot with ordinary soil will get it through till then, bring it indoors during freezes. If it will be a more long-term project, Terri's advice is good.
