What's eating my plum and pear trees?

Plum trees were planted 4 years ago, are growing well, we were looking at our first fruit this summer, but this is eating it. (Sorry the picture quality isn't better)

The pears are 2-4 yrs old, seem to be doing well, but have these bugs on the shoots and leaves (whatever they are they're shy-they kept moving when I was trying to get a photo).

basilno,

I haven't seen them personally but I seem to remember if you have a cresent shaped scar it's the plum curlico who's the culprit. Others will confirm this for you.

My guess on your second pic is leafhoppers. I have a few of them too on my asian pears.

I was worried about plum curlico.
Any other opinions?

I think you do have PC on your plums. Those plums will drop.

You can pick those plum now and cut them open to see if you find any larvae inside.

Pick up all dropped plums and throw them in the trash so they can't extend their life cycle in the ground.

Here's some reading.

Here is a link that might be useful: Plum curculio

Next year, after petal fall, begin a spray program.

Thanks.
Is there any option other than spraying?

Those might be bird pecks or other animal, the scars look like they might be deeper than curculio. Cut open a few fruits that are scarred and look for a winding path of the worm to verify you have curculio.

I thought the small plum in the background showed a scar that shaped like crescent near the stem.
