| I have attempted a couple of chip buds from a honeycrisp tree on some m111 rootstock this week. How long will it probably be before I know if they took? This is the first time I have attempted budding. |

| You'll see the bark of the rootstock start to "swallow" the chip bud. It may sit there until next spring before sprouting, which usually only happens after you cut the rootstock off above the chip bud. Low-chill varieties will sprout immediately and make a 4' shoot by the end of the season, and fruit the next year. Honeycrisp may take a couple years longer.. |
