Twig boring maggots and Spinosad

Hi All!

As some of you know, I have recently planted out a big sample orchard in my backyard. I have peaches, plums, apricots, apriums, cherries, etc. in a small space, BYOC style.

I have been lucky enough not to need any sprays up till now, but the time has come (inevitably).

All the stone fruits are afflicted with a maggot(larve) that is boring into the ends of the new branch growth tips. The tip then wits and dies. Upon opening the removed tip, there is a larve that has burrowed into the tip about 1-2". The peaches and nectarines are effected the most.

My guess is oriental fruit moth? your thoughts?

I just started a spinosad treatment schedule (once a week, total of 5 times) to get rid of the june bugs munching on my leaves, and citrus leaf miner. Will Spinosad prevent new tips from being infected with this maggot?

when should I start this treatment schedule next year as preventative maintainence?

In CA it's probably peach twig borer but you also have OFM. Here it's all PTB.

Thanks fruitnut,

Looks like I should have sprayed spinosad at bloom and petal fall according to UC. Does anyone know if it will be effective spraying now?
