New to apple cuttings

I have an old apple tree on the property and would like a few more just like it. I have started about 50 cuttings using 4 different methods hoping that some will turn out. Am i correct the once they root and i let them grow they will bear the same fruit as the parent tree?

Also will the new trees be the same semi-dwarf size as the parent tree?

Yes if any work they will be same apple. But no, not dwarf. Cuttings can put out some leaves and seem to survive a very long time, but not actually root.

Normally what you would do it buy rootstock and graft onto the rootstock. You could grow your rootstock from seed but it won't be dwarf

So are you saying i am better taking the apple seeds this fall and planting them. Then once they get to be say a foot long use them as the root stock and graft to them to guarantee i get the tree variety i want, knowing it will be full grown and not dwarf?

Buy a dwarf or semidwarfing rootstock and graft or bud to it next spring. Apples are easy to graft or T bud. That's the only way to get your variety on the size tree you want. Raintree Nursery sells 9 different apple rootstocks.

kupperpooh - the other way around.

Graft scion from your old tree onto a dwarfing rootstock.
