My Fuyu Persimmon trees are dead

We have 3 Fuyu trees that are 5 yrs old and have had great success from them. Last year we got approx. 200 fruit from each tree. But this last winter lasted into spring for East TX. and in April we had 3 freezes with mid 70 degree temps in between. Really crazy. I assume this is what killed my trees. My question is - One tree has sprouts coming out of the base about 2 ft. high. Can I just cut the tree it self down and leave these or just get new trees? Thanks for any help.

It could be those freezes or maybe persimmon sudden death syndrome, see below. I'd cut it back and try to make a tree out of the low sprouts. But also plant more next spring just in case. Womack's Nursery in DeLeon sells nice trees at a good price.
